No single build exists.
In a PvE setting, an Echo-Dust Trapper can solo some stuff, but not everywhere.
In PvP, Rangers are a fairly tough, self-reliant class. A standard Burning Arrow ranger is very strong and tough to kill, as is a Cripshot or Escape Ranger.
[skill]burning arrow[/skill] / [skill]crippling shot[/skill] / [skill]escape[/skill]
[skill]savage shot[/skill]
[skill]distracting shot[/skill]
[skill]apply poison[/skill]
[skill]natural stride[/skill] or Sloth Hunter's Shot if you're running Escape
[skill]troll unguent[/skill]
[skill]mending touch[/skill]
[skill]resurrection signet[/skill] or, for AB [skill]pin down[/skill] or [skill]holy veil[/skill]
12+1+1 Expertise
9+1 Marksmanship
9+1 Wilderness Survival
3 Protection Prayers

I semi solo alot of bosses using an r/rt oath shot spirit spammer, r/n toucher can solo alot in pve as well. Neitherr of these are good in pvp though. R/mo is usually best for pvp just for mending touch as that will make you invulnerable ;P

Its pretty easy to tell that such a build can't exist in a game like Guild Wars; because you can see people playing other classes. If that build existed, no one would use anything but Rangers and the game would be a broken mess.

Ranger is my main. I've played my ranger for over a year, and unfortunately there's no better solo build in PvE than the R/Me Echo Dust trapper. Great for UW and for soloing small groups in HM. That's if you're looking for a farming build, that is. There's plenty of great places that Rangers are useful in such as Tombs of Primeval Kings and Sorrow's Furnace, which calls for a B/P build. But that is, of course, not solo.
If what you're looking for, however, is a build that can deal great damage (for a Ranger), keep you alive longer than a lot of Rangers you'll see, interrupt, deal conditions/degen, and work well in both PvE and PvP....I have, over trials and errors, put together my own build that I really never stop using unless I'm farming "elite" areas. I'll give you a run-down, and I'll even include the insignias, runes and bow mods that make this build work well. I use this build for general PvE (missions, questing) and AB. I make no changes for either (only to Apply Poison in PvE if the mission/quest is one with very few "fleshy" foes), and never have any problems. This is not a "solo" build, but often times I've been the last one standing, and taken out two or three before I've gone down. It has earned me many kudos, and if you play it right, it may do for you the same.
The build:
12 Marksmanship
10 Wilderness Survival
10 Expertise
- Keen Arrow
- Sloth Hunter's Shot
- Screaming Shot
- Distracting Shot
- Melandru's Resilience (Elite)
- Troll Unguent (Can be taken out for a faster-casting heal, such as Shadow Refuge)
- Whirling Defense
- Apply Poison
If you really need to take a res, remove Sloth or Screaming.
Insignias: All Radiant.
Runes: 1 Superior Vigor, 1 Major Marksmanship, 1 Minor Expertise, 2 Vitae.
Bow mods: 20/20 Sundering, 15^50, +30 hp. Best used with a Recurve or Shortbow.
If you have questions, or whatnot, my IGN is Kazera Wolfsbane.

There is no good build for both pvp AND pve.
for pve splinter barrage is my afvourite, crazy aoe dmg if there is enough enemies.
in pvp you have many great builds as a ranger. BHA and interrupts if you like raping casters. Burning arrow, apply poison, etc for condition spread. R/W Thumpers or R/P Chukers both use pets and are great pressure builds.
There is really to many to mention. To to pvx wiki and choose what you like if you cant make your own build.
